The proposed catastrophic cuts to the Crime Victims
Fund (CVF) in the Appropriations bills for the 2024 fiscal year would impact
thousands of victim service providers nationwide – forcing layoffs, program
cuts, and programs to shut their doors. Millions of victims nationwide may lose
access to lifesaving services for child abuse, domestic violence, sexual
assault, elder abuse, and other victims’ services. States have already started implementing significant
cuts, with some cutting more than 60% in the current year alone.
Congress must fund the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) in
the 2024 fiscal year Appropriations budget without cutting other critical
programs that serve survivors and protect public safety.
